Piixie Cloud
Piixie Cloud runs the detection model on our servers instead of your computer. You pay per document with prepaid credits: no subscription, no watermark, and it works on every plan, Free included. It’s the Hosted column on the pricing page.
€1 per document, paid from prepaid credits (1 credit = 1 document). Buy credits in the app, from 5 at a time; they don’t expire. Documents processed with Piixie Cloud never carry the watermark and don’t count against the monthly documents of a Pro or Business plan.
Free trial
Section titled “Free trial”Pro and Business licenses include 3 free Piixie Cloud documents. After you anonymize a document with a local model, Piixie asks whether you want to try it on Piixie Cloud and shows how many free documents you have left (3/3). Choose Try it free and the same document runs again in the cloud: the result appears in History next to the local one, and your selected model doesn’t change. Not now hides the offer until Piixie starts again. There’s one trial per license.
Using it
Section titled “Using it”- In the model menu, pick Piixie Cloud. The first time, Piixie asks you to confirm that document text and images will be sent to our servers.
- Open Settings → Piixie Cloud and click Buy documents. Checkout opens in your browser; the credits reach the app within a minute (click Refresh if the balance hasn’t changed).
- Anonymize as usual. Each document costs its credit the first time the model reads it. Retrying a failed document, or running the same unchanged file again, doesn’t cost again.
If you run out of credits mid-queue, Piixie stops the queue and offers to buy more; the files already done are kept.
What leaves your computer
Section titled “What leaves your computer”- Piixie reads the file on your computer and sends its text (in chunks, for long documents) and the images in it to piixie.ai. The model, run by Cloudflare Workers AI in the EU and US, returns the personal data it found, in the text and in the images. Replacements are generated and the file is rewritten on your computer.
- With the Synthesize method, the personal data in images is replaced too; with the other methods it’s covered. Either way each item is placed on its text and the result is checked (see below).
- The local Lite engine still checks the result on your computer and adds anything the model missed.
- We don’t store or log the text or the images. We keep an anonymous account ID, its credit balance and, per document, an ID derived from the document (it can’t be turned back into the text), the model tier and the number of tokens used.
- The Secure Browser keeps anonymizing chat messages on your computer while a cloud model is selected: chat messages never cost credits.
- To claim the free trial, the app sends your license to piixie.ai, which checks it. We keep only a keyed hash of the license ID, apart from your cloud account, so each license gets one trial.
Images
Section titled “Images”Piixie Cloud reads the images in PDFs, scanned documents included: names, ID numbers and addresses on a scanned form, a license plate in a photo, a photo of a person.
The model reads a scanned page well but places what it finds loosely, a line off on a dense form. So on document pages Piixie finds the lines of text around each item, numbers them, and asks the model which line holds it; the cover (or the new text) goes exactly on those words.
With the Synthesize method it replaces the personal data instead of covering it, so the document still looks real:
- Each item of personal data in an image (a name on a scan, a plate) is sent as a small crop to an image model (FLUX.2 [klein], on Cloudflare Workers AI) together with the fictional replacement Piixie chose, the same one used in the text. The model redraws it in the same font and place, and Piixie pastes back only the pixels it changed.
- A photo of a person is replaced by a fictional stand-in drawn from a short, neutral description (age range, clothing, pose, background). The photo itself is never used to draw it, so the stand-in can’t resemble the person.
- Faces and signatures inside a larger image are blurred and covered.
- Every finished image goes back to the detection model with the list of the texts that must be gone. Anything it can still read is covered; an image that still shows personal data after that is blurred whole. This check runs with every method; if it can’t run (the cloud busy, a very long scan), each item is covered where Piixie placed it, with a margin, unchecked. Faces and signatures are blurred and covered without it.
The editor keeps these images when you edit the document; switching an image’s blur on replaces them with the blurred original.
How accurate is it?
Section titled “How accurate is it?”On our multilingual test set (160 documents in 8 languages, from insurance claims and medical reports to invoices, contracts and email threads, with 2,649 known names, IDs, addresses, phone numbers and other personal data), Piixie Cloud left none of them in the output, at about 13 seconds per document. It is sometimes too careful: it also replaced 13 of 314 values that should have stayed (amounts and product names). On the 24-document core of the set, the local Medium model left 3 of 452 items (0.7%) at about 83 seconds per document on an Apple Silicon laptop, and the local Small model left 13 (2.9%).
The model behind Piixie Cloud is DeepSeek V4.1 Flash on Cloudflare Workers AI. We also tested larger models for a premium tier; none did better on this set, so there is one tier for now.
Your account and key
Section titled “Your account and key”There’s no sign-up: the first time you buy credits, the app creates an anonymous account and keeps its key. To use your credits on another computer, click Copy cloud key in Settings → Piixie Cloud and, on the other computer, Use a key from another computer. Keep the key private: anyone who has it can spend your credits.
