1. Introduction

Piixie is a product of Gigantics ("we", "us", "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you visit our website (piixie.ai) or use our products and services.

By using our website or products, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, and company name when you create an account or request a quote.
  • Communications: any messages you send us via email, contact forms, or support channels.
  • Purchase and license information: when you subscribe, our payment provider Stripe collects your payment details; we never see or store card numbers. We receive and keep your email address, name, the company name you optionally provide, billing country and subscription status, and use them to issue and renew your license, to email it to you at the address you paid with once your payment clears, and to keep the billing records tax law requires. We also note the checkout's language and where you started the purchase (our pricing page, the app, or a link from another site), so we can see which of our pages and channels work.

3.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, time spent, referral source, and interactions with our website.
  • Device data: browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and IP address.
  • Downloads: when you download Piixie from this website, we record which file, when, your country and the page's language, with a visitor code that changes every day, so we can count downloads. We do not store your IP address, and the code cannot link one day to the next.

3.3 Information we do not collect

Piixie's desktop application processes documents entirely on your local machine. We do not collect, transmit, or store any content from the files you anonymize. Your documents never leave your device unless you explicitly choose a cloud model: an external LLM provider you connect yourself, or Piixie Cloud.

Piixie Cloud (optional, paid per document): when you select a Piixie Cloud model, or try one on a document, the app sends the text and the images of each document you process (not the file itself) to piixie.ai, where a model run by Cloudflare Workers AI detects the personal data in them and returns the result to the app. With the Synthesize method, the image areas that show personal data are also sent to an image model run by Cloudflare Workers AI, which redraws them with the fictional replacements the app chose, and the detection model checks the result. We do not store or log that text or those images. We keep only an anonymous account ID, its credit balance and, per document, an ID derived from the document that cannot be turned back into it, the model tier and the number of tokens used, to bill and limit usage. To limit abuse, a hash of the network an account was created from is kept for one hour. Pro and Business licenses come with a free Piixie Cloud trial: to claim it, the app sends the license to piixie.ai, which checks it and keeps only a keyed hash of the license ID, apart from the cloud account, so that each license gets one trial. Credit purchases go through Stripe, like subscriptions.

Update checks: unless you turn them off in Settings, the app downloads piixie.ai/download/latest.json once a day to see whether a newer version is available. The request carries the app version and no identifiers.

License renewal: when a license is installed, the desktop app periodically sends that license file (your email, name, company, plan and license ID) to piixie.ai to fetch its renewed version. Nothing else is sent: no document content and no usage data.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our website and products.
  • To process transactions and send related information.
  • To respond to your requests, comments, and questions.
  • To send you technical notices, updates, and security alerts.
  • To send marketing communications (with your consent, where required).
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud and security issues.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity: processing required to deliver the product or service you requested.
  • Legitimate interests: analytics, fraud prevention, and improving our services, where your rights do not override our interests.
  • Consent: marketing communications and non-essential cookies.
  • Legal obligation: compliance with applicable laws.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Service providers: hosting, analytics, payment processing, and email delivery partners who process data on our behalf under strict agreements.
  • Stripe (payment processing, invoicing and the customer portal) and Cloudflare (hosting of this website and of the license service, sending the email that delivers your license, and the Piixie Cloud models, through Workers AI).
  • Google (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, for statistics on how this website is used; analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner, see our Cookie Policy).
  • Microsoft (Microsoft Clarity, for heatmaps and recordings of how visitors use this website; its cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner, see our Cookie Policy).
  • Legal requirements: when required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

7. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the EEA. When we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.
